Introduction
At the core of the EOS ecosystem lies a cluster of decentralized entities known as Block Producers (BPs) analogous to miners on a proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain. These BPs are selected by EOS holders through a voting process, with their primary responsibilities encompassing consensus-building, transaction validation, appending the succeeding block to the blockchain, and upholding the security of the EOS Public Blockchain.
The network accommodates an extensive count of over 500 BPs, out of which merely the leading 21 hold the opportunity to generate the subsequent block. The block producers are rewarded EOS coins for their efforts to create blocks.
