ENF Updates: ENV, B1, BPs, Inflation

Several items highlight recent news. The most engaging is probably the ENV’s first investment wave:

“Over the next few weeks, we will be announcing the first round of ENV investments, totaling ~$5.4M.”

The EOS Network Foundation’s CEO, Yves La Rose, took time out of his busy schedule to comment on the B1 lawsuit and how the B1-EOSIO-Taurus announcement fits in. Other highlights for the latter half of June include:

  • video clip about the power token holders wield

  • video clip discussing token burns and the resulting sharp inflation drop (5% to 1%)

  • cancelation of IVS trip to Kyoto, Japan

  • open letter announcing strategic downsizing (see next section)

Yves Open Letter

Those keeping an eye on the market will understand the reason behind the ENF’s recent decision. In an open letter to the community, ENF CEO Yves La Rose announced:

“In light of market conditions, the @EOSNFoundation is saying goodbye to 20 of our amazing colleagues.”

It was a tough decision that needed to be made. Downsizing allows the ENF to maintain:

“Spending on community initiatives remains unchanged.”

In addition to the letter, Yves fielded questions on Fireside Chat. He expressed his optimism as the team works to deliver Leap 5.0 via consensus upgrade for the beginning of Autumn.

EOS EVM Updates: v0.5.0

EOS EVM is just over two months old and has already released v0.5.0. Read EOS EVM: The First 30 Days to get up to speed. EOS EVM is the fastest product on the market at:

an average of 900+ swaps per second

The closest competitor, Orca (Solana), is just over 200 SPS. Dive into the details of how EOS EVM leads next-gen development via the ENF’s website. On the foundation’s site, you may also:

  • access the EOS EVM block explorer

  • bridge your tokens

  • submit a project

  • apply for funding

  • and learn more about EOS EVM and where the network is going

EOS EVM has a dedicated and active community on Telegram. A pinned message helps new users onboard quicker, as well as lists official token contracts. The ENF also wished to remind the community about the complementary gas initiative for new Multichain users.

Neutroswap, Noah, Crypto Miners AMAs, and More

The recent round of AMAs kicked off with DeFi discussions. First EOS Nation’s Stephane Bisson and the ENF’s Brandon Lovejoy sat down with Benimaru, cofounder of Neutroswap. Topics included liquidity pools, providers, EOS EVM, security, and the platform's unique launchpad. About a week later, the host duo chatted with the Noah team about their DeFi platform. More recently, ENF CEO Yves La Rose and the ENF China team joined a Crypto Miners AMA. The Crypto Miners AMA focused on the EOS Network’s 5th anniversary and how we got here. On June 30, the ENF’s Blockchain Zack will join Wavetech’s Kevin Riedl to discuss EOS EVM.

Math Wallet (Best for dApps) Comes to EOS

With more than 3M users and 150+ blockchains, Math Wallet offers a profound opportunity to grow EOS EVM. In fact, Investopedia ranked Math Wallet as its choice for the best dApp wallet for 2023. Immediate areas of opportunity include cross-chain bridges and multichain dApps. The Math Wallet API Documentation may help grow the number of developers looking to build on the EOS Network. Users who are already familiar with Math Wallet can conveniently experience EOS EVM.

Spotlight on Facings

The Facings team quietly works in the background for EOSIO NFTs (primarily on WAX):

“FACINGS helps creators and businesses manage all aspects of their NFT collections…”

Now their efforts come into the spotlight in a PoweredBYEOS article entitled How FACINGS Harnesses EOS to Restore Digital Sovereignty! Facing works at the heart of decentralized technology:

“The code for the FACINGS Creator platform is available open-source on GitHub.”

Connect with your wallet and view what Facings has to offer on creator.facings.io. For information about NFT Collection Manager Stage 2, news, and more, visit the team’s Twitter and GitHub.

Pomelo Season 6 Closes

Pomelo Season 6 ended on June 29 with the closing of donations. The team still needs to analyze the results before distributing the matching pool funds. Each passing season has proved cleaner (fewer bad actors). Any misappropriation returns to grant owners as an adjustment in their matching funds. Here are a few statistics from Season 6:

  • 3,521 total donations

  • 40,316 EOS raised

  • 1,040 Telos raised

Combine the above with $182,000 in matching funds over four pools. Community plays a key role in Pomelo’s planning. From helping secure the network through open reporting to feedback, it’s about more than just funding. Helping build a robust environment starts with actions like a community looking back together to see how Season 5 feedback drove Season 6 innovation.

Around the EOS Network Community

As EOS cruises over bumps, builders (and users) continue to grow and innovate. That’s the true measure of decentralized networks. Not everything will go as planned (see open letter above). There will be challenges (e.g. B1 and bear markets). It’s how the community responds (e.g. EVM development, Pomelo…) that determines the outcome. Where many crypto platforms respond with a web2 mindset (e.g. adopting server-based and traditional banking principles), EOS continues to network (e.g. Pomelo inclusion of Telos, Title partnership for TOKEN2049), fulfill promises (e.g. ENV funding), and innovate (Leap 5.0 coming this Autumn). Be aware of an announcement from the Greymass team:

“If any Anchor (Desktop) users are experiencing issues signing transactions from apps/dApps, please update to version 1.3.12 to resolve the issue.”

EOS Respect held its 10th election.👇 more weekly resources for exciting news from around the community:
