ENF Updates

Early June at the EOS Network Foundation was more lively than at first look. EOS EVM begins to mature, capturing attention from both within (Pomelo grants) and outside (mainstream news) the community. Multichain transactions are just starting to make an impact. ENF CEO Yves La Rose fueled the excitement with a Binance AMA and giveaway. Yves went on Real Vision (01, 02) to discuss rebuilding EOS, its story, and launching EOS EVM. A recent Fireside Chat clip overviewed the class action lawsuit against B1. The ENF announced a new grant for EOS Visión. Recently released monthly publications include Everything EOS and the Program & Operations Health report.

EOS EVM v0.5.0 and More

On May 31, the ENF published EOS EVM v0.5.0-rc1 Released – Enabling Yield+ Liquidity Mining on EOS EVM. On June 13, the foundation followed with Exploring the EOS EVM DeFi Landscape. Both focus on EVM DeFi. Decentralized finance on EOS EVM is quickly developing. Yield+ supports DeFi growth by design. The v0.5.0 release takes a:

“…high level overview of the most important feature updates ….of the Yield+ … bringing liquidity benefits to dApps on the EOS EVM and new yield farming opportunities …”

Expect many more updates in the months ahead. The second article overviews:

  • wallets

  • bridging (including Multichain)

  • DeFi dApps

  • data aggregators

  • information for builders

Noah DeFi and Neutroswap are two platforms already trading and locking in funds. Both actively engage with the community. Noah is on its second airdrop with another 10K tokens. Neutroswap held its first well-publicized AMA (expect a recording soon) alongside the ENF. Neutroswap also held a giveaway.

Celebrating EOS Turning Five (Continued)

The community began celebrating its fifth anniversary at the end of March with EOS Moments 1-10. Provided by the EOS Network Foundation, EOS Moments are NFTs that embody the 21 most important events in the blockchain’s history:

On the June 7 Fireside Chat, the community got together to open EOS Moment NFT crates and remember how we got to this point. Those that participated took home rewards from various prize pools. The ENF published EOS: Five Years of Community, Performance and Resilience in honor of the event. For a quick summary and search of the recent Fireside Chat celebration, check out the summary by PodSum.

In Mainstream News

The community finally seems to be settling into the New EOS. There are challenges. However, new development and mainstream news coverage are now the daily norm. Below are some recent headlines from the larger crypto space:

The ENF is a title partner for this year’s TOKEN2049 Singapore event in September. That time frame also lines up with the Leap 5.0 consensus upgrade (hard fork). In Hong Kong, EOS is among just a few tokens joining the city’s Web3Hub ecosystem.

Multichain Outage and Resolve

On May 31 the Multichain team announced an issue with its node network. The May 31 issue affected Router5. A week later, the same issue manifested on Router2. EOS was NOT listed among the affected chains. On June 7, the ENF said:

“The smart contract for the Multichain cross-chain router has been unlocked 🔓 #EOS EVM users can once again perform cross-chain transactions with other EVM-compatible chains”

On June 12, the ENF followed up with:

“…the 1st few transactions of users entering the ecosystem with @MultichainOrg will receive complimentary gas”

The goal of the free gas is to improve the experience for new users who don’t currently hold EOS to begin making transactions immediately.

Inside the Greymass of Aaron Cox: Unicove

Greymass and its Anchor wallet are as synonymous with the EOS Network as any project. This season, the Univcove EVM bridge gets much of the attention. Unicove aligns with both Greymass’ expansion on EVM innovation. From the Unicove grant:

“…having the EVM is only half the battle. Now that it’s here, the network needs supporting infrastructure – tools that make it easier for both users and developers to engage with the EVM”.

Those looking to get technical may do no better than to dig into Greymass operations. As a community leader, Aaron Cox is as good as they come. On that note, here’s a vision he shares of what’s on the horizon:

“…ability for users to more easily move in to and out of the EVM environments from our native tooling!”

Learn more about the direction of Greymass from Co-founder Aaron Cox via a recent Pomelo interview.

Pomelo Season 6 is Open

Pomelo opened grant applications for season 6 on May 31. Donations began being accepted on June 7. What makes season 6 special are the multiple matching pools. Telos deserves special mention as it’s the only non-EOS chain pool. Pitch sessions are a great way to get your project seen. Be sure to check the rules before you start. Pomelo has outlined steps for proactive grant promotion. EOS Audit helps ensure accountability by supporting affiliated grants. Listen to a recent Fireside Chat for statistics and get to know the community. There was also a Public Goods Picnic for those looking to hang out with creators and learn about quadratic funding. Season 5 achievement badges were distributed.

Community Chatter

Note that EOSIO-Taurus is now a thing—from the now infamous B1. Also, note that Google searches are probably post-dating ‘taurus’ with EOSIO. From discussions about the EOS Network, B1’s new effort may simply be a way to present a legal defense. Probably more about that in the next summary. Hypha remains one of the most interesting ventures around the network. The team released a new clip of a recent Twitter Spaces. As EOS becomes more involved with Atomic Hub, new badges are bound to play a role in content, identity, and more. Remember to check the summary by PodSum to get up to speed and/or reminisce in light of EOS’ 5th anniversary. 👇 more weekly resources for exciting news from around the community:

Unique needs and services continue to emerge as the advantages of blockchain technology are realized. Easy access to information becomes increasingly important for expansive web3 networks.
