The ENF won independence for the EOS Network. B1’s influence is a distant memory. Revisit events via timeline or skip to the Open Letter by the ENF’s CEO for an overview of what to expect moving forward.
Background of Events
2021
August: B1 ignores the community’s call for direct BTC/EOS; instead, the company promises an EOSIO Enhancement Program and Greenback
October: Aaron Cox and Daniel Larimer discuss the Future of EdenOS and EOS; Dan Larimer announces he does NOT work closely and is no longer employed by B1
November: B1 sends 8M EOS to Helios, defends its EOSIO development strategy, files with the SEC, acquires licensing for Bullish, and launches Voice mainnet NFTs
2022
March: B1 litigation update, EOSIO+ Statement of Purpose, ENF hirings (including B1 staff)
December: B1’s Voice upgrades to Leap 3.1; Eden on EOS gets 500,000 EOS by way of B1 / Helios
Actions taken in 2021 demonstrate that B1 it’s capable of developing on EOS. Unfortunately, B1 didn’t show much interest in building the kind of open blockchain technology it promised during its ICO raise.

Breaking Down the Open Letter
Call to Action
On May 20, 2023, the EOS Network Founder and CEO, Yves La Rose wrote:
“EOS Network should take action against Block.one”
Unkept Promises and a Community Left Behind
Block.one (B1) led a record-breaking ICO (ERC-20 token) based on promises.
“In January 2018, … B1 promised it would invest $1 billion from the ICO proceeds to developers and entrepreneurs to promote and develop EOSIO.”
B1 never expended much effort to develop EOSIO into a competitive blockchain. The company would distance itself from the EOS Network.
Two Paths Forward
Only a small percentage of the initial investment ever made its way to the EOS network. The Open Letter recommends two courses of action:
Take legal action to recover the promised investment. A class action lawsuit is a possibility.
Hard forking the network “...to exclude B1 owned tokens”.
Read the Open Letter for more details about each option.
Sense of Immediacy
Yves believes that:
“Action should be taken as soon as possible… Interested parties can reach out at legal@eosnetwork.com”
