In blockchain technology, a testnet is an instance of a blockchain powered by the same or a newer version of the underlying software, to be used for testing and experimentation without risk to real funds or the main chain.

Testnets for AntelopeIO (EOSIO) are intended for the creation and testing of smart contracts, decentralized applications, and other features. Developers can deploy smart contracts, push transactions, and view the multi-index table in a user-friendly GUI etc. on the latest builds of the Antelope software without the risk of losing funds.

Testnet tokens are separate and distinct from the EOS (mainnet) tokens, and can be obtained freely from faucets.

Note: the base code upon which the mainnet has been built up was termed EOSIO. This changed with the deployment of third-generation technologies. Now the new codebase is known as Antelope.

Currently, there are 2 testnets on the EOS Mainnet blockchain: Jungle Testnet and CryptoKylin Testnet. And 6 other blockchain testnets in the EOS ecosystem: Proton Testnet, Telos Testnet, WAX Testnet, FIO Testnet, Libre Testnet and Ultra Testnet.

EOS Mainnet testnets

Jungle Testnet

“The Jungle Testnet was initiated by and has served as sandbox for many development teams and EOS Block Producers since the birth of EOSIO. It played a cornerstone role in the EOS launch and now as the network matures and grows it provides a reliable test environment for EOSIO based applications. Your dApp's success is our number one priority. Jungle Testnet is the #1 EOS Testnet, where 100+ EOS dApps have been tested, 50+ EOS Block producers participating.”

The Jungle Testnet is upgraded simultaneously with the update of the EOS mainnet. Since the release of the mainnet, it has gone through Jungle 1.0, Jungle 2.0, Jungle 3.0, and Jungle 4.0 versions. Jungle 4.0 is the latest version, other versions have stopped updating and operating, so please use the Jungle 4.0 version: AntelopeIO (EOSIO) v3.2.

“Jungle is an EOS Testnet with the EOS Mainnet token snapshot fully applied. Jungle typically keeps up with the bleeding edge of EOSIO software and system contracts, so it's the best place to test new EOS features.”

Useful URLs for the Jungle Testnet:

CryptoKylin Testnet

CryptoKylin Testnet is a developer-friendly testnet maintained by a group of EOS Mainnet Block Producers. CryptoKylin Group consists of technical members of numerous EOS Block Producers that have participated in mainnet launch and specialized in eosio software, block producer system architecture, eosio smart contract, block explorer, EOS Wallets etc.”

“Kylin is an EOS testnet with the mainnet token snapshot partially applied (accounts created but not all EOS transferred). Kylin is typically slower to apply EOSIO software and system contract upgrades and is therefore more in line with EOS Mainnet.”

EOS ecosystem testnets (Antelope Testnet)

Proton Testnet

Proton – the Payment Blockchain. Proton is improving and streamlining the verification and speed at which payments are processed, either between banks or merchants. Proton is a protocol built on top of the EOSIO consensus layer.

Useful URLs for the Proton Testnet

Telos Testnet

Telos - home to the fastest EVM.

A blockchain reimagining what's possible. Telos is faster, cheaper, greener, and honest. Beyond function, we are leading the way for a better Web 3.”

Useful URLs for the Telos Testnet

WAX Testnet

WAX – the #1 Blockchain for Gaming and NFTs. WAX (Worldwide Asset eXchange) is a decentralized blockchain purpose-built for buying, selling and trading virtual assets. This includes everything from in-game items to virtual real estate and collectible items.

Useful URLs for the WAX Testnet

FIO Testnet

FIO - making crypto easier. FIO Protocol makes crypto easy by replacing all of your public wallet addresses with a single, secure, customizable crypto handle. Use this single crypto handle to send, receive, or request any type of crypto (digital currencies and NFTs) as easily as sending an email.

Useful URLs for the FIO Testnet

Libre Testnet

Libre - decentralize your finances. Libre is a new blockchain that makes Bitcoin and Tether fast, easy to use, and highly programmable.

Useful URLs for the Libre Testnet

Ultra Testnet

Ultra – a blockchain for Mainstream Adoption, a new era for gamers. Ultra is the first entertainment platform that brings games, digital assets, tournaments, and live streams to one place, all easily accessible through a single login.
