At the heart of any blockchain is its community of users. After all, a blockchain, in its basic form, is just a network. The EOS community has always had a high concentration of developers. Users benefit from personal assistance (e.g. EOS Support, and helpful Telegram/Discord chats). From onboarding and wallet creation to app development and running a node, user needs are supported. Below is a brief overview and look back from a long-time EOS member.

UPDATE: EOS on Antelope is Here!

Out with the old, in with the new. The New EOS that is. For those not familiar with EOS, or who’ve not investigated what Antelope has to offer, this article offers unique insight and experiences. But first a quick overview of what transpired recently…

The New EOS runs on Antelope iteration Leap 3.1. Antelope replaces EOSIO. Leap is the name chosen for the iterations used by the EOS mainnet. Antelope is designed as a “Swiss Army knife” for use as any ecosystem blockchain sees fit. Leap upgrades launch all at once- a contrast to most ‘hard forks’.

In addition to the core upgrade, EOS has many other powerful products on the horizon. For instance, EOS EVM, IBC, and Yield+. Team ENF has already begun its Leap education and promo tour. The initiative will last for months. IBC and EVM products expect to deploy early in the tour.

Given the likelihood of an influx of ‘never before’ EOS users, seems like a good time to discuss how the New EOS will change the community.

EOS Then and Now

When the EOS Network Foundation first announced its intentions a year ago, the mainnet community cheered with enthusiasm on par with the DAWN (initial launch) of the EOS blockchain in 2018. Today, the excitement around the New EOS dwarfs those feelings

Few, if anyone, including ENF leadership, imagined the success of such magnitude and speed already occurring in the New EOS today. Make no mistake, solving problems that persisted over the years requires a confident vision. Launching with new features was always expected.

However, announced features and products well-exceed expectations. From an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and inter-blockchain communication (IBC), to a new liquidity program and multi-chain development coalition, the New EOS ecosystem is light years beyond what it was. And, EOS already proved to be the most transaction-performant blockchain in existence.

The Strength and Endurance of the Community

Developing the New EOS was so successful because many factors came together in harmony. Thanks to ENF CEO, Yves La Rose, and the respect he earned over the years, Antelope’s organized development already deserves a place in textbooks. The immense endeavor never felt that way. In fact, development by pre-ENF leadership posed a greater weight on the community, and for much lesser reward.

The success of Antelope development can be stated in a word:

“COMMUNITY”

The EOS community is resilient, positive, productive, and able to work together; yes, even the old EOS. The New EOS benefits from an unencumbered vision. Both the ENF, and independent developers alike, contribute to that vision. Development also benefits from reliable, fair funding, something the old EOS sorely lacked.

Even the ENF itself cannot escape the power of the word COMMUNITY. After all, the ENF was formed out of a core group of mainnet developers who often offered their insights in community chat. No, not everyone in the ENF can lay claim to being so helpful. However, the leadership, key personnel, and overall culture certainly can.

Efficient Development

EOS has always been a developer-centric community. Popular blockchains all too often harbor flashy chat environments. Maybe these communities became lazy riding the success of proof-of-work (PoW). They can ignore the onboarding process and exist merely to market projects. EOS develops. The core code is designed for streamlined development. The New EOS takes efficient development to a whole new level.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

The New EOS represents the future of blockchain. Sister blockchains rally behind what the ENF is doing. They are working together to deliver inter-blockchain solutions. Unlike the old EOS, the New EOS has sizable funding. Developing on the New EOS is a pleasure for organizations, as well as independent developers. Now unencumbered, community members of the New EOS find a level of creativity few ever know.
