Today, community members have more influence over the EOS mainnet. An increase in independently funded projects illustrates the community’s newfound power. The EOS Network Foundation provides support through its matching funds on Pomelo. However, the foundation is doing much more to uplift and decentralize EOS.
ENF development greatly benefits from the dedicated efforts of EOS Support agents and the rest of the Squad. Agents are available around the clock to help users solve problems. EOS Respect is a new community founded on both the principles of EOS Support and EdenOS.
EOS Support vs. EOS Respect: What’s the Difference?
EOS Support’s mission reads:
“…help the average user onboard into EOS without any difficulties…”
EOS Support already proved successful in making EOS more user friendly. With each passing week, the organization becomes a more valued, integral part of the community.
EOS Respect is independent of EOS Support. Its mission reads:
“…empowers community members to pool money and reach a consensus on electing trusted individuals…”
EOS Respect conducts regular meetings towards an ultimate goal of supporting projects that align their objectives with EOS Support. Specifically, the process involves running an iteration of EdenOS to reach consensus and build trust.
Community Run
Both EOS Support and EOS Respect are run by community members; though, membership differs based on objectives. A group of EOS Support Squad members founded EOS Respect. By establishing a core team of knowledgeable and caring individuals, EOS Respect launches with leadership that understands the needs of the mainnet. Thus, EOS Respect’s growth and funded projects contribute to a healthier ecosystem.
The State of EOS Development
The EOS mainnet aims to provide blockchain-based applications that resemble traditional web solutions. A primary reason why the endeavor represents a significant challenge in general is due to the blockchain space’s lack of infrastructure.
The EOS Network Foundation leads the development of EOS’ third generation software. The foundation’s working groups aggressively build needed infrastructure to help connect the world to next gen blockchain applications.
Investors and dApp developers are keeping a close eye on the ENF. Supported by initiatives like Pomelo quadratic funding, many independent developers look to be among the first to deploy functional 3rd gen dApps.
Born with real functionality means that these emerging EOS projects would be the first true Web3 applications. Web3 projects often fall well short of intended function and user experience. The new EOS will have built-in infrastructure to better align with traditional expectations; and through EOS Support, a more connected user base.
Helping EOS Stand Apart
While the ENF provides the vision, funding, and project development teams for Web3, average users still face the usual blockchain disconnect. Simple activities that veteran crypto users take for granted, such as using a decentralized wallet, can detract new users.
EOS Support steps in to help bridge the gap between traditional internet users and Web3. While the focus is on users, EOS Support often finds itself aiding organizations as well. Creating an independent micro-community (EOS Respect) to adjunct EOS Support’s mission was a no-brainer.
EOS Respect establishes a new network for responsible, independent development. Not every project team can work closely with the ENF. Accurate accounting wanes for community-distributed funds- like those obtained through Pomelo. Here’s where EOS Respect shines by insisting on an accounting standard and strengthening a community-driven development initiative.
Private development teams also network with EOS Respect. It’s about nurturing a micro-community with the resources, information, and support to help EOS-committed projects better reach their goals. Where EOS Support focuses on users, EOS Respect takes a lead role in assisting independent project creators and developers.
Outlook
The EOS community, as well as the surrounding ecosystem as a whole, has seen a significant sense of empowerment since Antelope's introduction at the end of September. With never-before-attained performance, Antelope Leap v3.1 aims to increase both user experience and overall development simplicity.
EOS Support proves efficient at solving existing problems, discovering potential issues, and mitigating/preventing threats. EOS Respect caters to the needs of developers, as well as provides accountability of community-funded projects.
Together, EOS Support and EOS Respect strengthen the framework that‘ll help nurture the new EOS mainnet and allow it to reach its full potential.
