Antelope offers a wealth of opportunities. The whole ecosystem stands to benefit, not just EOS. Launching Leap 3.1 was just the beginning. ENF projects fit together like puzzle pieces. When they all come together, the ecosystem will become a model for the future of blockchain.

Like its predecessor EOSIO, Antelope is open-source C++ code. Leap 3.1 is the specific iteration used by EOS. The new dynamic makes a lot of things possible. 3 projects making waves across the community in the days following the launch are:

  • Trust EVM - the most performant Ethereum Virtual Machine

  • IBC - inter-blockchain communication introducing new functionality

  • DeFi (Yield+) - decentralized finance specifically tailored for EOS

For the purposes of this article, the focus will remain on EVM and IBC. They expect to be the first products out the gate; with Yield+ already seeing action prior to the hardfork (consensus upgrade). EVM and IBC are expected to go live in the upcoming months.

The Trust Network: NextGen EOS EVM

An EOS EVM has been part of the Antelope plan from the beginning. Ethereum remains the most popular blockchain among developers. Even as other blockchains outperform Ethereum, its dominant market cap share holds strong. EOS’ brings unmatched performance to Ethereum users accustomed to high gas fees and slow performance. The bridge was a no-brainer.

Unfortunately, it took a while for the EOS community to find its independence. With development now in the community’s hands (under the direction of the ENF), only truly valued endeavors move forward.

Full ETH Compatibility

The Trust Network expands the community’s influence. It’s been enough to share the spotlight with the ENF at TOKEN2049. How much potential is there in the Trust Nework? Consider the memorable words of Vitalik Buterin:

EOS is Ethereum On Steroids.

The outlook gets even brighter as one looks deeper. Trust EVM will provide full ETH compatibility. That means, anything that developers can do on Ethereum, they can do while leveraging EOS’ low-cost and lightning speed. Also, don’t forget about EOS’ reliability. How many EVMs can come close to that kind of performance?

EVMxIdeathon and GameFi

EOS EVM excitement gained momentum at the Helios-ENF joint sponsored EVMxIdeathon. The combined hackathon/ideation went live just as Antelope launched. What better way to attract new developers and innovative teams.

Antelope will make it easier to bring new products to market. By no means should one think that complacency might set in. The ENF, as well as independent developers around the community, won’t stand for it.

In addition to the hackathon/ideation, Trust EVM is turning heads in the GameFi space. The EOS ecosystem already leads in this area. In fact, EOSIO (now Antelope) holds a more than 50% share of the gaming market. NFTs are all but essential to modern gaming. Add Ethereum’s influence, and it becomes clear that the month’s ahead will be unlike anything the crypto world has ever seen.

Inter-blockchain Communication is Paradigm Shifting

Info about an EOS EVM circulates more freely than inter-blockchain communication. Few understand the implications of IBC. Plus, it was only recently that the ENF confirmed an IBC. It really is a big deal. In the words of ENF CEO, Yves La Rose:

$EOS IBC will be live shortly after the Sept 21 Hardfork. At launch, it will be IBC between @AntelopeIO chains. …

IBC is about more than just connecting blockchains. It introduces new features. Actually, the much anticipated faster transaction finality speed of the New EOS pairs nicely with IBC. Lower cost and faster transactions alongside IBC multi-chain contracts is paradigm shifting.

Old EOSIO (now Antelope) chains stand to benefit for sure. Ethereum too, as soon as the Trust Network goes live. However, the ENF blew a few minds when it quietly mentioned IBC for Cosmos chains.

Excited about the New EOS yet?

On the Horizon

Even with IBC, EVM, Yield+ and GameFi related projects, there’s still a lot to look out for in the New EOS. From developer tools and working groups to instant DAO creation and independent developments, the New EOS is anything but predictable.

Where blockchain development is known to be unreliable, especially in terms of timely releases, the ENF stands apart. The foundation consistently delivers on its promises. Currently on tour, Team ENF begins shaping popular perception about the New EOS. It’s a growing ecosystem that’s readying a foundation of products and innovations that will impact the whole industry.
