Before the first generation of Millennials grew up with the Internet, a television host asked:
“ ‘Can you explain what internet is’ “ - Today Show (1994 via TV) from the 25th anniversary of TODAY’s Studio 1A (‘What is internet?’ Katie Couric, Bryant Gumbel are puzzled via Today.com, June 20, 2019 [video 0:45])
Katie Couric’s question echoed again as the world began to take notice of cryptocurrencies. Notice that she doesn't use the word ‘Bitcoin’.
Maybe the reason for identifying cryptocurrencies as a larger marketplace has something to do with the popularity of NFTs. Many must still be wondering: Is it about Bitcoin, blockchain, crypto, or NFTs? Indeed breaking the populous’ habit of overly associating Bitcoin to everything that happens in the blockchain space is a sign of maturity.
In the same clip (still looking back at Katie’s 1994 question), the hosts find parallels in their intrigue in cryptocurrencies 25 years later:
“…like that… remember.. We were talking about cryptocurrency… we were like: ‘We don’t get it’ ” [0:56]
The difference between introducing the world to the Internet vs. blockchain is in leveraging a global network of human-to-human communication.
User Support with a Personal Touch
Global societies exist in a modern age of information. It could be argued that a ‘true’ global society didn’t exist until the advent of the Internet. Furthermore, children who grew up with the Internet expect an unparalleled level of intelligence when dealing with others in their daily lives. A global transformation is occurring with the Internet, and now blockchain, at the forefront.
Of all the mainnet cryptocurrency networks in existence, EOS breaks the mold when it comes to innovation. Imagine how immense the perceptual changes and unique challenges must be for new users. Clearly, new approaches to onboarding and providing assistance are needed.
Enter EOS Support. At the heart of EOS Support are agents who provide a personal touch in an impersonal, digital world.
Services
Like a master chef, EOS Support combines many ingredients to satisfy the palettes of a diverse user base. Here’s a short list of services, topics, and activities provided by a live team of expert agents:
information for new users
scam prevention
setting up and funding a wallet
transfers
staking, interest, powerup, msigs, etc.
connecting with the community
Eden on EOS
and more
Basically, a support team is available to help with any issue coinciding with the proper use of the EOS mainnet. Other topics might include networks within the greater ecosystem, as well as blockchain itself. Visit the Learning Center for quick help guides. For issues and questions requiring deeper discussions, try the EOS Support chat bot to connect with a live agent. You find it by clicking the blue icon at the lower right corner of the eossupport.io website.
In addition to its many services, the community will be glad to know that the EOS Support team is expanding. News, events, a dapp list, and other one-to-one services coincide with developing a more robust website and user experience.
EOS Support is much more than a help center. It’s a community within a community. The core team of agents and supporters meet regularly for community outreach, to advance ideas, and reward contributions.
Bridging the Knowledge Divide
Developers often navigate through a logical set of hurdles to connect to blockchains. Since the space is so young, there’s rarely a universally applicable user interface. Even when accessing a wallet, average users rarely find a streamlined application interface. (Don’t confuse user interfaces with underdeveloped APIs- a matter that core EOS developers are also diligently working to deliver to the mainnet very soon.)
New crypto users, especially non programmers, don’t have the same knowledge base or equipment at their disposal. The disconnect between users and applications may not be readily obvious to developers. EOS Support agents help bridge this gap.
Average Internet users often don’t make full use of their devices. Imagine how much greater the divide is for those looking to own their first crypto wallet keys and connect to a decentral application. It’s these users that EOS Support holds close at heart.
Concierge Service
Known as the concierge of EOS, the EOS Support team was created by the community for the community. Once again it’s important to stress how blockchain’s potential can be harvested by easing the learning curve. In fact, it’s the little nuances that developers take for granted that motivated EOS Support founder Randall Roland to create a one-stop help center.
Users come in all shapes and sizes. Individuals wishing to take ownership of their first EOS wallets differ from business seeking to integrate applications and utilize multisigs. EOS Support tackles the full spectrum, from end to end.
Community Outreach
The support team prioritizes community outreach. Meetups offer the opportunity to learn about blockchain in person. Giveaways leverage the entertainment and learning potential of online trivia contests.
Since the emergence of the EOS Network Foundation, the EOS mainnet has seen immense innovation. Maybe no other blockchain is as rapidly developing new products as EOS. Efforts remain as strong as ever to create user-friendly interfaces. Popular wallet provider Greymass also has its focus on users. Still, more choices and unique applications make for a more complex environment.
EOS Support agents are available to guide new users every step of the way. From your first blockchain wallet or unique experience on the EOS mainnet, to complex applications, agents build relationships with the community. It’s a really nice option to have- and one that’s sorely needed.
