Anchor is a digital wallet built for AntelopeIO (former EOSIO) based chains featuring high security and privacy for users. You can download the Anchor desktop version from the official site. In this guide, we lead you through the necessary steps for setting up a newly installed Anchor Wallet and importing a Private Key of an already existing account.

After downloading Anchor from the link above, you can install it on your computer. After Installation, launch the Anchor application. The following window will pop up on your screen:

First, click on Setup an account. This will direct you to another window asking you to set a password for your Anchor Wallet.

Note: Set a strong password to secure your Anchor Wallet. Don't mix up your Anchor Wallet password with your EOS Account; these are not the same:

A window will appear to confirm your password. After confirmation, you will see a page where you can select your blockchain.

Anchor Wallet works for different blockchains. In this example, we select EOS since we want to import an EOS Account.

Since you already have an EOS Account Private Key, click on Import an existing Account. It will give you the following options for importing your already existing EOS Account:

  1. If you have an existing Private Key, simply click on Import Private Key.

  2. If you have an existing account on a ledger device, simply click on Enable Ledger Support

  3. If you have an Owner Key certificate, use the Import from key certificate option.

In our case, we choose Import Private Key. We enter our 51 alphanumeric Private Keys starting with the number 5.

After successfully importing your EOS Account, it will be displayed in the Anchor Wallet Home site and on the drop-down menu next to the EOS Icon.

We hope you liked this tutorial!
