Eden on EOS is the first iteration of the EdenOS software. Two communities currently employ EdenOS governance, Eden on EOS and EdenChina

A Bit of History

Eden on EOS completed its third official election in less than a year. Just weeks early, EdenChina ran its second test election. There’s a lot to be excited about with EdenOS software. EdenChina chose to adjust the code to better fit its needs. Eden on EOS quickly reworked a smart contract to keep the election on schedule.

EdenOS’ performance is a testament to the initial development team. What else might one expect from individuals who had a hand in founding EOSIO itself.

The Election Process

Eden on EOS’ third election proved that the software and young community could rise above challenges. The EOS Network Foundation was integral at this early stage. Nevertheless, excitement hasn’t waned and the new Chief Delegates (CDs) resolved to establish a stable election process.

Term Lengths

The first group of CDs elected on October 9, 2021 held office for 6 months. The second group was elected on April 9 for three months. The third group of newly elected Chief Delegates are scheduled to hold office for three months as well. The next election remains slotted for the day before the one year anniversary.

During the Election

So what in fact transpired during the July 9 election? The main issue was a down to the wire signing of the smart contract that records participation. Other issues will keep the new group of CDs busy out the gate. For an overview of what needs attention as soon as possible, view the video of the new CDs first meeting with ENF CEO, Yves La Rose.

Introducing the New CDs

Four Chief delegates were chosen this term. One name might sound familiar (having previously held office). Here are the elected Chief Delegates for Eden on EOS’ third election:

  • Chris Barnes

  • Dan Singjoy

  • Hahn Ryu

  • Luka Percic (Head Chief Delegate- chosen by sortition)

The Head Chief Delegate is chosen randomly from those elected by the community. Luka Percic holds the honor this time. The top position comes with the job of decisive key holder and greater funding. Though, additional funding for the Head Chief has recently been brought into question.

The CDs

All CDs are recognized members of the EOS mainnet community. Luka’s experience and trustworthiness should bring stability to the young network. His Eden membership profile lists him as a “researcher, innovator and productive guy”. Luka’s season 2 Pomelo pitch, Port, is impressive, having raised over $100,000 USD. In fact, Port was used by Pomelo to help with the Trust Bonus that ensures sybil attack resistance.

Hahn Ryu is a regular face on EOS. He’s the founder of NodeOne, CampDAO and the Korean EOS Token Holders’ Association. Hahn’s profile page includes a quote promoting humanity in a world governed by technology. The Korean Association is an active, vital group in the mainnet community.

Dan Singjoy may be the most recognizable of all CDs. Each week he promotes EOS Hot Sauce, hosts Eden Fractal meetings, and is a regular attendee of other fractals and key EOS events. Dan is an artist. His creative works can be viewed on Eden Creators. There you’ll also find a link to recordings of fractally meetings.

Chris Barnes has been here before. According to his profile he’s a small-town spirit. Chris was the first CD elected during the trial runs (deemed the first EOS Satoshi). He also held an official CD position during the first Eden on EOS Election. Today Chris works with Helios, an organization likened to the enterprising arm of EOS. He’s as dedicated as anyone to the advancement of EOS and Eden.

Why Eden on EOS Matters

Eden on EOS gave the mainnet community its first real voice in governance. Prior to Eden, community concerns only sometimes made it to block producer ears. Even when they did, the concerns of individuals were generally taken as dismissible opinion. Group efforts rarely fared much better. No wonder why the mainnet was easily manipulated by corporate agenda (i.e. Block.one).

Today, the EOS Network Foundation is the primary developer of EOSIO (now AntelopeIO) software. The ENF hears community voices more clearly. Factor in Eden on EOS, and the mainnet community has a productive way to coordinate, manifest key initiatives, and work with developers.
