Pomelo is a new community-driven open-source crowdfunding platform that multiplies donors' contributions. It officially opened on November 11, 2021.

Gitcoin inspires the concept of Pomelo. Pomelo encourages and funds open-source software development. On Pomelo, contributions are matched from a pool of funds initially provided by the EOS Network Foundation and other matching partners. Every small donation goes a long way! With the magic of quadratic funding, more matching funds go to projects with more unique donors.

Prerequisites

If you encounter any problems while preparing to sign up and donate on Pomelo, you can click the blue/white chat icon at the bottom right of the website to open a direct chat with one of our support agents.

1. Have a registered Github.com, Google, or Apple account for platform login. If there is no relevant account, please register first. Using a Github.com account is recommended in China since a Google account often encounters various problems when logging in from China.

If EOS Nation requests access to your Profile, please click Accept.

2. You must have a registered EOS account with a certain amount of $EOS.

3. A configured and working EOS Wallet/Authenticator app should be created or imported. The pomelo platform supports Anchor, Wombat, and all wallets that use the scatter protocol. Be aware that Scatter is an outdated wallet.

How to set up Pomelo Profile

1. Enter Pomelo.io in the web browser and click Sign in:

2. Choose whether you like to login with your Google, GitHub or Apple Account:

Select the platform you like to login. As mentioned before, it is recommended to use Github for Chinese users.

3. Update your information. After the first login is completed, you will be reminded to fill your username.

Link Pomelo to an EOS Account

1. Start your Anchor Wallet and login.

2. Link EOS Account to your new Pomelo profile. Click on 1. (the Wallet Icon) and click 2. Add Payment.

3. Choose your Wallet. If your wallet is not listed, choose Scatter, since most of the older wallets are compatible with Scatter.

If you connect a Scatter compatible wallet, it will show you the Scatter logo after connecting.

Click Verify Account and sign the transaction with your Wallet to confirm linking your EOS Account to that Pomelo Profile.

If you are not using the Anchor Wallet or a wallet that provides free resources, you may need to power up your EOS Account before you can sign a transaction. You can do this with the free Power Up Service. For more information on the Power Up Model, click here.

How to switch from another Wallet to Anchor Wallet

If you want the best user experience, we suggest installing an Anchor wallet. Anchor offers free transactions and automated resource management. Some projects in the ecosystem currently support Anchor wallet only.

The following steps would help explain how to change your wallet to Anchor wallet.

1. Download and install the Anchor wallet. The Anchor Wallet App can be downloaded and installed by searching for "Anchor" in the App store on Apple mobile phones and searching "Anchor" on Google Play for Android phones. Anchor wallet for desktop can be downloaded from Greymass official website.

2. Import EOS account: After downloading, installing, and creating a new Anchor Profile (Account), import your corresponding EOS private key. Try not to use the owner's private key. If the two private keys of your account are the same, choose to import the manager identity (Active) when you import it into the wallet. Read here about the importance of EOS account management.

How to Donate to your favorite project on Pomelo

After setting up an account, you can donate to your favorite project. Click on Grants.

If you scroll down, you can select projects by categories or sort projects. For example, sorting categories Contributors ↓ lists the projects that have received the most donations and are therefore popular.

When you find a project you like to donate to, click the Add to Cart button to add the project to your shopping cart.

Click on the shopping cart to settle the donation.

The browser operation on the mobile phone is similar. On mobile phone, the page hides the funded projects label under the three dots symbol.

You can (2) enter the amount you like to donate $EOS. Then (3) estimated match will be calculated automatically. If you make a mistake while creating a grant, you can click on (4) to delete the project from pomelo's portfolio.

Click (5) on Checkout, then sign the transaction with your EOS wallet.

If you are not using the Anchor Wallet or a wallet which provides you with free resources, then you may need to power up your EOS Account before an attempt to sign a transaction. You can do this with the free Power Up Service.

Thank you very much for your donation to our beloved EOS ecosystem.
